Upper Crust is Cowabunga Johnny’s own brand, which makes it the one set on this page with no client to answer to. It exists because a card series is the most honest way to show what the studio can actually do: not a mockup, not a sample pack, a real product with a checklist, a print run and collectors who notice when a variant turns up.
The West Chester Artist Series puts nine artists on eleven cards, each one a pizza rendered in somebody else’s hand. The art is the point. The card is the frame around it, and the frame is the same red gingham tablecloth on every card so the set reads as one thing.
Everything we recommend to a client is in here, because we wanted to live with the decisions before selling them: a checklist card, a mini, a sticker, artist autographs, and variants rare enough to be worth the hunt.

A checklist, a sticker and a mini
A pack that holds only cards gives a collector one thing to feel. Splitting it into three formats gives them three: seven cards to sort against the checklist, a sticker that goes somewhere, and a mini that is obviously different in the hand before anyone reads it.
The checklist card is the piece most sets skip and the one that turns a pile of cards into something with a finish line. Ours lists all eleven by name and number, which is also how a collector works out what they are missing and comes back for it.
What went into it
No brief, no client, no approval round. Every decision here was ours, which is why it is the set we point at.
Each card is a different hand. The brief to every artist was the same and deliberately loose: pizza.
The gingham border, the coloured title box and the artist credit are fixed. Everything inside them is not.
Eleven cards, numbered 01 to 11, printed as its own card so the set can actually be completed.
A mini, a sticker and a T206-sized companion run, because a set that is all one shape is less fun to open.
